You don’t need that many items to look good. You just need the right ones. In my case that is 36. Shoes (5 pairs) and outerwear, like jackets/coats (3)are included. It excludes underwear, loungewear, nightwear, sportswear, and items for special occasions ( like ceremonies, weddings, etc.). The same goes for outerwear for extreme weather conditions (like snow boots, rain pants).
For probably most of you 36 items sound ridiculously less. But here is the thing. When you own 7 bottoms and 14 tops (21 items in total) you can already make 98 different outfits! This is more than you can wear in 3 months. That means that with 21 items you already have enough to wear in one season. Interesting right?
Of course, the items you select for your capsule wardrobe should match easily. And some of you like to layer their looks or vary a bit more and therefore need more tops. The nice thing? The selection criteria of the method will help you pick the items that easily combine. And of course, the selection is a bit wider than only 21 pieces.
